The Covington Lions parade rolled in downtown Covington Tuesday, February
16, 2010, to the theme 'Love Makes the World Go Round.' The Lions were followed by the Mystic Krewe of Covington rolling to
the theme 'Mardi Gras of the Past.'
With the Covington High School marching band in the lead,
the parade rolled through downtown Covington.
Chilly weather didn't deter the crowds, who were packed along the parade
route.
In addition to the standard purples, greens and yellows,
many floats are bedecked with the Saints black and gold, including one from which children threw beads underneath a banner
decorated with the fleur-de-lis and the slogan, "When pigs fly."
The Robert H. Burns American Legion Post 16 float was up
front greeting the crowd with beads, stuffed animals, doubloons and roses. Riders
were Commander Mike Peats, 1st Vice Commander Clinton Lounsbury, 2nd Vice Commander Bill Rosevally, 3rd Vice Commander Brad
Gauthreaux, Sgt-at-Arms Jim Livermore. Adjutant Roy Kellum, Wes Howell, Al Stumpf, John Plaisance and David Rice.
