New Form for Ordering Grave Marker Medallions
The VA has introduced a new form -- VA Form 40-1330M -- for use solely to order a medallion that can be affixed to grave markers at private cemeteries. The new VA Form 40-1330M, Claim for Government Medallion, can be downloaded.

The older form, VA Form 40-1330, remains in place to order a traditional government headstone or marker. More information about the medallion or headstones and markers is available at the VA website. More information on VA burial benefits can be obtained from national cemetery offices, from VA's Burial and Memorial Benefits website here or by calling VA regional offices toll-free at 1-800-827-1000.

Subject: Memorial Day Coverage 2012

Sous Directeur Americanism Nationale Norm Covert wants to call your attention to his blog and tributes for Memorial Day. It began yesterday with a moving poem in memory of a fallen U. S. Navy Corpsman and views of "The Wall." Today a look at our "own" coming home from war; more Sunday with a tribute of "The Wall,"; Monday you be able to read the tribute and account of HM3 Alan Groshong of Newport News, Va.

Have a great weekend. Salute to our warriors.

Dear Fellow Veterans and 40&8 Voyageurs:

You may have heard about a proposed amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act of 2013, by Congressman Lee Terry (R-NE), that will allow Veterans and Active Duty not-in-uniform to Hand Salute during the Pledge of Allegiance. (Veterans can already hand salute the Flag but this adds the Pledge.)

I am pleased to report the Terry amendment has been accepted and will be included in the House-passed version of the NDAA2013. There is every reason to expect this will soon become law.

I have attached Congressman Terry’s remarks regarding this amendment.

The effect of this amendment will be that civilians will still salute hand-over-heart, but veterans and active duty not-in-uniform may hand salute at similar occasions.

Members of the Forty et Eight have long advocated this.

God Bless America,

Mark Anich, P. N. 40&8
