William "Tigerman" Allen

A retired helicopter pilot and a resident of Baker, he died at 3:10 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at the Louisiana War Veterans Home, Jackson. He was 68, a native of Franklinton and U.S. Army veteran. Visiting at The Rock Church, 20810 Plank Road, Zachary, 70791, on Monday, Feb. 8, from 10 a.m. until religious service from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., conducted by Tommy Straight, pastor. Military honors funeral commencing at 1 p.m. at Port Hudson National Cemetery, 20978 Port Hickey Road, Zachary. Survived by his wife, Mary Allen; daughter, Robin Allen Regard; son, Anthony Shane Allen; three sisters, Ellavee Varnado, Vylinda Matte and Patsy Olinde; brother, Ernest Allen; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Preceded in death by his father and mother, Joe and Marie Allen; brother, Ethan Allen; and sister, Margaret Montalbano. He was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 177.
